Nwankwo Christian Kanu, or simply Kanu. The tall Nigerian striker of Ajax in the 90s, a big hero in Amsterdam, maybe even bigger in London.
After a successful time in Holland and winning the Champions League with Ajax Kanu made it into the big leagues. Even though the journey was tough, trying to overcome physical struggles and competing with the best strikers in that time, Kanu found his way again in England. We remember him as a member of the “Invincibles” and the great Arsenal win in 2003/04.
Those long legs and arms maybe did not make him the most graceful football player, but ‘the Crane’ managed to become one of the best African football stories. A true inspiration for the new generation.
