BIBO x Favela Street | Mokumolukken
DESCRIPTION
With the Mokumolukken design, Favela Street pays tribute to the Moluccan community. The shirt symbolizes all ethnic groups that have had to find their place in the Netherlands.Blood In Blood Out drew inspiration for Mokumolukken from their work with the Dutch national football team. Last summer, they designed a special shirt featuring flags on the sleeves representing the diverse migration backgrounds of the Dutch players. One of these flags was the Moluccan flag, as a nod to footballer Tijjani Reijnders, whose mother is Moluccan. The overwhelmingly positive response from the Moluccan community to this gesture reaffirmed the importance of representation.
This experience inspired the creation of a Moluccan football jersey, featuring on the back a well-known Moluccan proverb: “Ale rasa, beta rasa”—What you feel, I feel too. A powerful message of connection and mutual understanding, this phrase not only embodies the spirit of the Moluccan community but also reflects the core values of Favela Street.
