Be A Drop, Start A Ripple: Favela Street's Journey of Empowering Youth Through Street Football

Favela Street proudly commemorates its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of creating a powerful ripple effect in communities across the globe by empowering youth through football and community engagement.

Over the past decade, Favela Street has transformed countless lives by empowering young people through innovative programs that started in the vibrant favelas of Rio de Janeiro and have since expanded to communities across the globe. In a time when polarization and social exclusion are on the rise, Favela Street’s mission to foster inclusion and opportunity remains more crucial than ever.

To mark its 10-year milestone, Favela Street is launching the “Be a Drop, Start a Ripple” campaign. The initiative underscores the power of individual actions to create lasting change. It invites everyone to reflect on the impact they want to make and to join a movement toward a more inclusive world—one where everyone has the opportunity to shine.

The BIBO x Favela Street collection offers supporters a unique chance to wear a piece of Favela Street's legacy and become part of its ongoing movement for change. These jerseys are more than fashion; they are symbols of a decade of meaningful impact through sport and youth empowerment. With each purchase, supporters not only celebrate Favela Street’s journey but also help empower more young people, creating a ripple effect that extends beyond clothing into real, lasting change in communities worldwide.

We designed the following five jerseys for the collection.

Flamdamsko – Inspired by Flamengo (the biggest football club in Rio) and Amsterdam, where the idea for Favela Street was born.

Baranka – Papiamento for ‘rock’, inspired by the resilience of the communities that Favela Street works with, as well as the colors of the pansexual flag.

Mokumolukken – A tribute to Rocky's Moluccan roots and the first football tricks she learned from her father.

Sudan – A call for awareness for Sudan, where Favela Street was able to make a small impact until the civil war broke out in 2023, severely affecting the safety of people (understatement). All proceeds will go to Sudanese documentary photographer Faiz Bubak.

Legmeer x Kòrsou – The colors of Rocky's first football club in Uithoorn, and those of Curaçao, where Favela Street has been active since 2019.

The collection will be available here starting the 9th of December.
